Sawn Timber

We supply the finest teak lumber to professional builders throughout Europe, North America and the Caribbean.  Our teak lumber is always of the highest grade and each order is hand-selected and twice-inspected before shipping.  We provide teak lumber in vertical grain, mixed grain, or flat grain; and our teak lumber can be provided rough, surfaced, edged, or precision-milled to your exact specification.We could supply teak cap and toe rails to your profile and pattern. Our teak selection process ensures each rail component for a single yacht is sourced from one tree (wherever possible) to provide the finest visual match and coordination.We provide a full range of custom milling options, including re-sawing lumber up to 17 1/2 ” wide, ripping, and planning S2S, S3S and S4S. We sell lumber in the rough or milled to your specifications.

Teak is truly the standard of excellence for all yachts. For centuries, boat builders have prized the wood’s unique characteristics.

Teak is prized for its golden color, dark markings and straight grain. Although coarse in texture, it is smooth to the touch and has virtually no raised grain.

Teak also surpasses all other woods for any outdoor use. This is because of the natural oils in tectona grandis, or true teak, which eliminate the need for preservatives and sealants.

Marine Decking.

Malana Impex mills a large volume of superior-quality solid teak marine decking. Our yacht grade materials are available in:

  • vertical or flat grain
  • surfaced four sides (S4S)
  • 1/4” to 2-1/2” thick in lengths of 3’ to 15’
  • wide and long decking for renovation projects
  • Made from Burma Teak 100 % Quarter Swan
By controlling our own supply chain from forest to mill, we are able to consistently provide the finest logs, lumber, and teak decking to our customers.Our logs are converted into rough-sawn timbers and boards to our precise cut schedules.  Each piece is coded to identify the individual log source, enabling us to supply sequence matched lumber for projects requiring superior visual effect.Our First European Quality (FEQ) Burmese teak superdeck is air dried, surfaced four sides (S4S), eased on four edges (E4E).We supply only first class quality cut of teak decking for personal Yacht, Mega Yacht up to passenger cruiser. Our experience sawyers and graders assure that our quality product will strictly comply with decking grading rule.

Must be free from the following defects :

Large knots , large beeholes , suncracks , large pitch or bark pocker , large chalk pocket , inbark , soft heart centre . sap , cross or sloping grain , shake , rough grain ( wild growth ) . splits , or serious mechanical injury , or excessively curly or wavy grain , unless otherwise specified .

In pieces which possess lengths pr widths not less than the average dimension of such parcel of timber . except pieces with lengths from 9' ( or the equivalent in metric system ) upward , which shall be recknot individually the following defects will be allowed : one knot ( 1.30 cm) in diameter , not penetrating to the other side , or one beehole ( 0.6 cm ) in diameter not penetrating to the other side and pieces carrying each of such defects should not exceed 5% of the total number of pieces in the parcel .

Special Market Specifications

These specifications intended for dimensions stock such as Decks and Margin pieces , shall have only one grade in each case .

General Requirement : These shall be well manufactured with cross sections rectangular throughout ; sawn full , thickness and width being 1/8" ( 0.30 cm ) full to the normal dimensions at the time of milling ; fairly straight grained , sound and free from injurious worm or beeholes splits . shakes , sapwood , large knots not exceeding 1,25" ( 3.80 cm ) diameter or unsound knots , corner knots , ingrown bark , wane , heart centres , or imperfections due to heart centre , excessive discoloration and rot , or other injurious defects , unless otherwise specified.

Decks : Upper face and the upper half of the calking edge shall be clear . One perfectly sound knot , but exceeding 1" ( 2.60 cm ) in diameter for every 10' ( 3 meter ) will be allowed . For decks of 10' ( 3 meter ) and longer up to 20' ( 6 meter ) two knots will be allowed provided that the distance between the knots is not less than one-third of the length of the piece . For decks longer than 20' ( 6 meter ) , three knots will be allowed , and the distance between each should be at least one - third of the length of the piece
